The apostle Paul used the word “manifold” to describe the wisdom of God and the responsibility that the church has to make it known to the world. To the Ephesians Paul wrote, “To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in heavenly places” (Ephesians 3:10). Paul describes the wisdom of God by using the word “manifold” and most all of the Greek lexicons and word studies define the word a literally meaning “much varied, many diverse manifestations, multi colored.” The Lord’s church has the wonderful privilege of making known to the world this “manifold wisdom of God.” This is included in what Jesus when he gave the great commission. “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

The process of going and preaching the gospel is part of this process of making know the “manifold wisdom of God.” Just as the message itself is the manifold wisdom of God so it is that there is to be a manifold support of the Lord’s church as she makes known the gospel. There are many ways by which individual Christians can and should support the work of the preaching and teaching of the Word of God. Let’s consider some biblical ways to support the Lord’s church and the work.

One may support the Lord’s church by being present with other Christians to worship God “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24, Hebrews 10:24-25). One’s presence is an attitude and action of supporting the Lord’s work and church. The brethren that teach in various Bible classes and preach as the church comes together are supporting the Lord’s work as was done in the first century.

One may teach another person individually and personally through a persona Bible study, providing a tract to them, encouraging them to watch sound preaching by members of the church on TV or the Internet, or hear sound messages preached such as are on the Mabelvale Website and other faithful congregations also. Teaching may also be done directly through the Internet to people around the world as is done at Mabelvale. Not only does the student learn, but those that teach others learn the Word of God and gain experience on how to teach others the gospel.

One may be supportive of the Lord’s cause by supporting the good works and activities of other faithful congregations. During the months of March, April, and May there are many Gospel Meetings and other types of meetings going on that can be supported by one’s attendance. To support a good activity of another congregation is a way to learn more of God’s Word, be edified spiritually, and encourage our brethren as they seek to reach the lost or build up the Lord’s body in their local.

The church is to make know the manifold wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10) and there are manifold ways to support the Lord’s church and the work of teaching the lost. May each member of the body of Christ seek to do their part in the body (Romans 4:4-5).
