Stress. Worry. Anxiety.

Three words that plague the lives of many Americans today. In fact, in recent years, the anxiety of Americans has only seemed to get worse.

A condition called social anxiety has developed in many. This certainly has to do with worrying about being in a social setting and feeling uncomfortable, but it still shows that many are overly anxious. In some cases doctors prescribe medicine for such a state of mind.

If you turn on the news and watch it for 10 minutes it is likely you’ll develop some time of anxiety disorder. With issues in the world ranging from natural disasters, shootings, murders, bananas and coffee causing cancer and oh yeah the world is probably ending soon because of global warming (please catch my humor).

In a world where there is so much to worry about how can we stay sane?

The apostle Paul wrote, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

How do we access that peace that Christ offers us?

By prayer and asking God to help us.

Instead of following the bad news of doom and the gloom of the world, we can find peace in the good news of Jesus Christ.

What do we worry about? Death? Disease? Broken relationships? Sin?

Jesus has conquered all of that, and when you give your life over to him, he gives you that power too by giving you the presence of his Spirit (Romans 8:9-11).  Have confidence, joy, and peace today. GOD IS WITH YOU!
