On this Monday, I invite you to join me in praying the prayer of Jesus from Matthew 6:9-13. Take your time—pray it slowly, letting each phrase settle in your heart. Breathe deeply and intentionally, allowing yourself to rest in the words and in the presence of the One with whom you are speaking.
This isn’t a prayer for performance or pretense (as Jesus reminds us in verses 5-8). It’s a prayer of honest surrender—a moment to stand before the Father, fully known and fully loved.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Also: in this holiday season, remember that every good gift comes from our Father (James 1:17), and that "if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content" (1 Timothy 6:8). Happy holidays!
