We love the mountaintop moments—baptisms, breakthroughs, answered prayers. They remind us that God is near, that faith has power, that the kingdom is real. But most of life isn’t lived on the mountaintop. It’s lived in the everyday: doing laundry, going to work, changing diapers, answering emails, making dinner.
And yet, this is where much of discipleship happens.
Colossians 3:17 reminds us: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Not just the “big” things—everything.
God isn’t just present in the “sacred spaces” of church buildings or worship services. He’s with you when you’re tired, when you’re being patient for the fifth time today, when you’re choosing not to speak a harsh word, when you quietly pray before making a decision.
The spiritual life isn’t something we visit once a week. It’s something we live, one ordinary moment at a time. Don’t underestimate the spiritual power of your daily faithfulness.
Jesus lived thirty years of ordinary life before His public ministry began. If God Himself chose to dwell in the slow rhythm of family, work, and neighborly love, maybe we shouldn’t rush past the ordinary either.
So today, and every day this week, do the small things in the name of Jesus—and trust that He is with you.
